Booking Contract

BY MAKING A PAYMENT ON YOUR ORDER, YOU ARE AGREEING TO THESE POLICIES

DESIGN:

Client understands that Young House Cakery will interpret and execute the decided cake design as closely as possible to any picture references or requests during the design process, with the understanding that slight variations may be present in the final design. Client agrees to give Young House Cakery the freedom to make creative changes to the decided design if the need should arise.  No refunds will be given if Client does not enjoy the final product and/or design.

DESIGN CHANGES:

The client may request changes to the cake design up until three weeks prior to the event date. The client understands that making any changes to the design, flavors, or decor of the cake order will affect the final cost and may require additional payment, even if the final deposit has already been made. After three weeks, Young House Cakery cannot accept further changes to the design of the cake due to scheduling, purchasing, and preparation.

PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY:

To confirm a spot on Young House Cakery's calendar you must either pay a non-refundable deposit or pay for the order in full. Payment is processed through an invoice that is sent via email. If the Client is needing to cancel a cake order 4-weeks+ before the date and you have paid in full, I will reimburse 80% of payment (this does not include state tax). All deposits/down payments are non-refundable. If your event is less than 4 weeks away, Young House Cakery will not be able to reimburse the Client.

For Clients who choose to only pay a down payment to secure a calendar spot, full payment is required 6 weeks before the event. If you do not pay and/or ignore communication from Young House Cakery, the Client risks to loose their non-refundable deposit and their spot on Young House Cakery's calendar.

DELIVERY:

Any changes to the delivery location may result in a shift in delivery free. Due to availability reasons, any changes in the delivery date/time/location need to be communicated to Cakes by Jessica no later than one month in advance of the event date. The client understands that last-minute changes in delivery date/time/location will be accommodated at the availability of Young House Cakery.

CARE OF THE CAKE:

If the client is picking up the cake, they understand that Young House Cakery has done everything to ensure the structural stability of their cake, but once it is in possession of the client, it is the client’s responsibility to transport it safely. If the client intends to store the cake overnight, the client understands they are responsible for the care and transport of the cake, and Young House Cakery cannot be held liable for any damages that occur in the client’s care.

SET UP:

Make careful arrangements for where the cake will be placed at the event venue. It should NOT be put in direct sunlight (outdoors or by a window), by a fireplace, or any other warm area. It should be placed in a safe spot where guest traffic will not risk injury to the cake. Any cake stands used should have a sturdy base and be able to hold a heavy load (recommend 2” more than the size of the cake drum). Cakes by Jessica cannot be held liable for any damages that occur in the client’s care.

PICK UP:

After ordering the cake, Young House Cakery will coordinate a time/day for the client to pick up the order. It is the responsibility of the client to communicate to Young House Cakery any changes to the pick-up time. If the client does not pick up during the agreed-upon time without communicating with Young House Cakery,  after 12 hours the client forfeits their cake and their deposit. No refund will be given.

COMPANY RESPONSIBILITY:

In the case of an unavoidable situation, such as a car accident or hazardous weather, Young House Cakery cannot be held liable for more than the cost of the ordered cake. A full or partial refund will be offered to the client. In the event of a personal or family emergency, Young House Cakery will forfeit all payments. A refund in full will be offered to the customer, or an offer for Young House Cakery to find an alternative cake decorator of equal quality to take on the order. In this case, Young House Cakery will do its best to negotiate the same price for the new decorator agreed upon in the original arrangement.
